What you need to know

Migration claims are vendor claims until you test them on one of your applications. Separate what carries over from what must be rebuilt, and read any guarantee for what it fixes and what it leaves out.

01

Start with an inventory, not a vendor

Whether you are weighing Power Apps alternatives, OutSystems alternatives or Mendix alternatives, begin with your own estate. List each application, its owner, users, data sources, integrations and licence cost. The inventory decides which applications are worth moving and which should be retired.

02

What may migrate

Betty Blocks states that it offers AI-powered migrators for Power Apps and OutSystems (Betty Blocks webinar page, read October 2026). We found no public migrator for Mendix, so treat a Mendix move as a scoped project and ask any vendor for its method and a reference. Betty Blocks' front end is React, so React front ends are the likeliest to carry over cleanly. Test that on a real screen rather than assuming it.

03

What needs rework

Expect rework in platform-specific business logic, data models and security roles, connectors and integrations, identity and sign-in, hosting and monitoring, and user training. Ask the vendor to mark each of these as converted, partly converted or manual for your pilot application.

04

Read the guarantee model carefully

Betty Blocks states that partners such as 9Hz guarantee timelines and budgets for migrations (webinar page, read October 2026). Separately, its 4-Week Guarantee page describes fixed scope, price and timeline for a custom application MVP. A guarantee is only as useful as its scope. Ask what is fixed, how acceptance is decided, who pays if the estimate is wrong and what happens to the old licence during the work.

05

Prove it on one application

Choose one representative application and run the migration end to end, including a code and data handover test. Decide on the rest of the estate only after the pilot is accepted, and keep the old platform running until then.

Your vendor checklist

  • Inventory apps, data, integrations, users and licences.
  • Pick one representative application as a pilot.
  • Ask what the migrator converts and what stays manual.
  • Get the guarantee scope, acceptance test and overrun terms in writing.
  • Keep the old platform running until the pilot is accepted.
